HHS Software Manual

Overview
The main system screen has the following sections:

Menu bar
The top menu bar provides access to all program functions and features.

File is used to start and stop program execution and to perform backup and restore of key system files. The program can also be started and stopped with the Start/Exit and Emergency Stop buttons. When the Emergency Stop button is clicked, all timer pump and solenoid activities are temporarily stopped and the Start button will change to Resume. When Resume is clicked, the system will attempt to recover from the last known state. Because certain events are timed, they may not necessarily be resumed as expected. This feature is solely to immediately interrupt an undesirable activity.

Tool bar
The tool bar is at the top left under the menu bar. It provides rapid access to the Timers (clock), Channel schedule (calendar), Nutrient setup (glass), and Detailed reports (book) dialogues.

Environment
The Environment section of the screen reports date, time, sun rise and set, daylight hours, light level, temperature, humidity and dew point. The data reported is dependent on the attachment of appropriate sensors. If a sensor is not attached NS will be reported in the boxes. If there is a problem with a sensor, CS will be reported in the boxes. Dew point requires both temperature and humidity sensors. If no light sensor is attached, this area will be blank.

Activity tab
The information in the Activity tab is quite straightforward. Timer activity is reported at the top and Channel activity underneath. Colors are used to visually highlight activity states:

    Timer colors
  • Green - On cycle
  • Dark blue - Off cycle
  • Yellow - Pending. The Pending state will continue until the date/time indicated in Next Event
  • Gray - Disabled
  • Pale yellow - Delayed start. Next Event contains the start date/time.
    Channel colors
  • Green - Growth phase
  • Orchid - Bloom phase
  • Brown - Final phase
  • Yellow - Pending
  • Light yellow - Waiting before a refill after a dry float is detected.
  • Gray - Disabled
  • Light blue - Refill or pH adjustment sequence.
  • Red - Error condition. The status bar will contain a brief description of the error condition.

System
The system tab reports on recent analog and digital events, next environment log time, and analog sensor levels. Phidget boxes indicate whether the device with the associated serial number is connected or not. Events contains the port and value of the last digital and analog event. Analog sensor levels are provided for all 8 channels whether attached to a sensor or not.

Nutrients
The Nutrients tab reports the remaining volume in all stock tanks. Channel refill status provides the current system volume for the channel and the total volume of refills since last reset.

pH/EC(TDS)
When the pH/EC(TDS) tab is selected a graph of pH and EC sensor values for the selected channel are displayed. The values displayed are snapshots at 5 minute intervals. The current sensor value and exponentially smoothed running average are displayed below the graph.

Status bar
The status bar is at the bottom of the screen. It is used to report error conditions, to provide brief descriptions of data entry fields, and to display channel refill and pH adjustment progress.
