Calibrate
The Calibrate dialog is used to calibrate:
Pumps
Accurate pump capacity calibration is essential for nutrient mixing and pH dosing. Calibration can be obtained either by using an accurate graduated container or by weight. If weight is being used, determine the tare weight of the container before beginning.
Ensure the lines from the pump to the container have no air in them or that they can be fully evacuated after the pump test period. Place the container under the pump discharge and click the Start 1 minute test button. If using weight in grams, subtract the tare weight. Whichever method is used, enter the ml/min. Repeat for all pumps. If not using a peristaltic pump for the reservoir, there will be a different discharge rate when the reservoir is full versus nearly empty. Do a test with the reservoir full and nearly empty and use the average.
Floats
Channel floats are calibrated by filling the plant containers with premixed nutrient until a Wet state is achieved. The final depth can be adjusted by raising or lowering the associated float. The box beside the channel will be checked when the float is wet.
Before adding nutrient to the reservoir, the corresponding box should have a check in it. Be sure this state becomes unchecked as the reservoir is filled. This float triggers in sense opposite to all other floats.
Finally, the mixing tank float is tested by filling the tank with the amount of liquid specified in Options->Nutrient dialogue. Plug the outlet from the mixing tank, pour in the specified amount of water and adjust the float until it just triggers.

Electrodes
To calibrate a sensor, select it in the Analog input list. Select the type of output the sensor delivers either 0-5 volts or, if converting from a 4-20 ma loop with a 500 ohm resistor, 1-5 volts. Follow the procedures provided by the manufacturer to complete the calibration. Make adjustments until the correct pH or EC reading is displayed for each step of the calibration process.
The calibration date for the electrode can be saved by clicking on Reset calibration date.
